Today I uploaded the Kansas City Star patterns. I was supposed to post them last week but things just happen sometimes. Life gets really busy. I apologize for those that were looking for the patterns.
Every month I will feature three patterns with templates from the Kansas City Star and I will also feature a couple patterns that you could order.
Kansas City Star patterns are so popular that they actually have their own website and have created some books from the patterns that were done in the 1930s. If you would like to check that out, here is their website.
The three patterns that are featured this month are a Japanese Garden, Pointing Star, and Lovers Lane. Patterns were sent to the Kansas City newspaper by various quilters during the 1930s and then the Kansas City Star reprinted the patterns. I really like the Japanese Garden, I have not seen that block. When you go to print the patterns on your paper, print to actual size, do not print to fit the paper.
There are also a couple of pages that tell about patterns that you could order in the 1930s. I just think they are just so interesting to read. The first one is the Milky Way and the other is the Crocus pattern. Both of these patterns were available in the 1930s by sending the Kansas City Star the pattern number and $.10. What a deal, I just think that some of this quilt history is so important.
