Good evening,
I cannot believe that it is the middle of July and summer is half over. Definitely keeping busy here, certainly has been a hot summer in Michigan. I am working on plenty of projects, some days it’s hard to choose which one.
I have been contemplating writing about fabric downsizing, I don’t think that fabric downsizing is something that I will do. I know I have more fabric then I ever will use but it seems like with each piece of fabric, there is a different memory that arises, where I bought it or what I was going to do with it . I love that and I love fabric. I try to stay organized but it looks like I could definitely could use some refolding.
It just warmed my heart when my daughter recently started another project. I think she has as many as I do now. She wanted to do some small blocks. I love that she is pulling reproduction fabrics out of my stash to use. She is definitely better at color than I am.
I have spent the last six months cleaning and downsizing my sewing room. It’s been fun to part with somethings that I knew I was never going to use. I am appreciating the extra space. The room definitely is not as cluttered and so far I have not missed anything I have parted with.. Thank you all for following me on my journey. I hope some of you were inspired to do your own downsizing.
Here are some of the latest pictures of the projects I’m working on.
Cold wind blows
Birds of liberty
Pentagon’s and hexagons with antique sampler blocks
Forest park friends
Shipshewana baskets
Every day best
I love the different variety of projects that I’m working on and I know there are others that I have not even posted pictures of. I hope that you are finding some time to work on something special..
Enjoy the rest of your summer. I am having a blast with the grandchildren. I also am looking forward to the big AQS show coming to Grand Rapids again and my 10th grandchild to be born next month.
Happy stitching,
Rosemary
I love seeing your wonderful projects that you are working on and I am now determined to get at least one project finished per week in order to ever get all my started projects done, might take years!! But my customer quilting is heavy, I just finished #295 quilt for the year. I do believe I will hit 300 this week.Last year I did 418 for the year, so I guess I will pass that mark by the end of this year!
Dear Ms Rosemary! You are so amazing in many difference ways…. I’m starting to clean up my sewing room too/because of you/ hopefully soon… Thanks you for your wonderful idea by downsizing the fabrics. Kind Regards, Bonna Downs

Love every one of your projects, Rosemary. You are such an inspiration. Still can’t make myself downsize any part of my sewing room, though.
Maybe you and Amy could come and help me decide what to keep and what to get rid of.
Your fabrics are beautiful, certainly to die for. I’m glad you are keeping them all. If they were mine, I couldn’t part with them either. Just make beautiful quilts and share the fabrics that way. Happy quilt making.
I always enjoy seeing the many projects you have in progress. Are any of your older grandchildren interested in sewing? Have a blessed summer with all the grands.
Dear Rosemary, I am camping with my husband and student from Spain in the woods of upstate New York. I enjoy your posts so much because I am an avid quilter and doll maker. I especially like those rabbits you made. Like you, I have spent months downsizing my sewing room and also like you I have a lot of fabric. Some I have donated and some I have thrown away but I am so fond of my great stash. I bought a mercantile unit for my fat quarters and have spent days organizing by color. Now I am taking a break from sewing and housekeeping because we must embrace our short summers. This morning Maria and I went on a paddle boat and I thought how fun it would be to create a quilt of the lake’s lily pads and dragon flies. Keep keeping us informed of your sewing journeys. Sorry I am late in commenting…. Rosemary, you have been a busy lady and I know that the things you eliminated makes you feel lighter – it did me! And those that I could not sell I gave away and that is also a good feeling.
It is funny how each fabric that we buy has a special meaning – place and time!
I want to do the ‘when cold wind blows’ also – maybe next year!
Take care! Hugs
Your fabric bins look a lot like mine. Love my fabric too. Love your projects too. I’m working on another postage stamp quilt this summer.
Do you have civil war fabrics or panels
Hi Rosemary: I have a question: Is there a pattern for the ‘Birds of Liberty’ panel? I have the panel, but don’t know how to put a quilt together with it. Any help would be appreciated. I really like all your work!
