Dear friends, sorry the post went off before it was finished.
I am amazed at how many scraps you can fit in a box and my friend in New York will have so much fun with them. Fun to share especially since I have so many scraps So I decided to separate the rest of the scraps, I kept one box full of just strips, just so much ironing again.😃😃😃 I saved strips of various lengths and widths, I have so many strips, I would imagine there is enough for a couple of good size quilts. I cut approximately 1500 squares that are 2 1/2 inches.
My guess is there are about 5000 1 1/2 inch squares.
There also 2000 3 1/2 inch tumblers, I for one cannot wait to put those together
Plus there are so many triangles, squares and others odd shaped scraps , My guess is the box holds at least over 10,000. 😊
So now all of my scraps are organized and they’re going to be all kept in these little drawers in this little storage unit I bought at Joann fabrics. Not sure what project I will start with them but even though it was a lot of work it was worth it and I will realize that more when I begin my next project using them.
Happy quilting,
Rosemary
What a great way to sort out the scraps by cutting them already. Have fun with sewing all of these !
I look forward to seeing your tumbler quilt at the retreat.
Rosemary it’s starting to look like your getting a handle on all the scraps and i’m sure your friend will come up a great quilt out of all the scraps you sent her have fun with making your new quilts.

Wow, I’m impressed. It must feel really good to have accomplished that. I’m making progress on my scrap vortex quilt and will try to send a photo when done. Pat
OK OK….. I will put the scrap curring on my list! Really makes me want to purchase the Accu Cutter…….Maybe next year. You have done a lot of work and the drawers look great! Hard work but it sure pays off. Looking Good Rosemary! I could take a break from my EPP and do some every day – I will call it my Exercise for the Day time! LOL

I think that my scraps are much larger than most people scraps. I am just glad that it is done, normally I do not organize scraps like that. It was a really big job as far as the ironing and sorting
I really like the tumblers, they are my favorite. I do like the cutter but at times it is very frustrating because you still have to cut threads because it is always not a clean-cut if you know what I mean . I am not sure that I would be a person that would always keep their scraps really organized, I would be hopeful that every once in a while I would cut up some scraps on my cutters as to not have the big mess I did have. Have a wonderful day stitching,

Well, maybe I need to get the dictionary out – SCRAP CUTTING! Really Rosemary – is this catching today? LOL
Well, aren’t you the smart one! It is truly amazing the huge amount of scraps fit in a box, usually enough for several large quilts (I think!). Scrap management is almost a full time job. People give me scraps too, and I am amazed at what size some quilters think is a scrap, a BIG piece to me. Amin the midst of our great quilt show in Eureka, CA (biennial). Almost four months into hand quilting a Large medallion-type quilt put together in 1996 of then-orphan blocks, so it will look old to newer quilters – love the hand quilting – only about six of us left in Humboldt County – we need a revival of hand quilters! Be well. Judy DeGraff, Fortuna, CA
Wow what a job well done Rpsemary. That huge bag is pressed and cut in to usable pieces AND organized. Pat yourself on the back that you had the gumption to stick with it until the bag was empty. I can so totally see getting near to the end and making the decision to send the rest to a friend. You did the lions share though. I’ll bet you had a trip down memory lane going through that bag and seeing some of your older scraps again.
No more white bags allowed in your quilting room. You don’t want to do that again! How about a small box where they can stay relatively flatish and when the box gets filled, lay them on your cutter and go.
Isn’t it easy for someone else to make suggestions? Sorry, I meant it in a good way about the white bag and was smiling when I typed it just in case the smile didn’t come through with the letters and words.
That is incredible.
