Good afternoon,
It is a rainy day here, definitely cooler temperatures than we normally have in May. Our house has been busy this week, my daughter, my son-in-law and five of my grandchildren have moved in here until their house is ready in two weeks. Love having all the laughter and company. There has not been a lot of sewing time but having a great time making memories. Kind of like a big vacation altogether.
I am really excited though, I told you I was going to work on a block of the month – week type Quilt. The idea Is coming together. You are going to learn how to put a quilt together like you probably have never done before. It is going to be really fun process and a learning process at that.
One good thing about this Quilt, if you have orphan blocks you will get the chance to use them. The one thing that I really would love to have you do is to start going through your closet and your quilt room and organize all your orphan blocks by size. If you don’t have any orphan blocks, that’s ok, but for those of you that would like to learn how to put orphan blocks in a quilt, this will be a great opportunity for you to use some of them up.
There will be a lot more information to follow, also start thinking about fabrics, mine is going to be really scrappy, just any reproduction fabrics that I have and I probably will use as many different shirtings I can as background fabrics.
I am working on setting up another blog and figuring out all the computer things first. As soon as I do that I will post more details and instructions.
So I definitely have some sewing to get started on, by the way, it is going to be a mystery but I will tell you that the Quilt finishes to 96 in.² without a border, depending on what you do for border choices, it will definitely finish over hundred inches square, no inset seams or things like that, lots and lots of different blocks, there will be a few blocks that will appliquéd, most of the Quilt will be pieced and if you don’t like appliqué I will give you an alternate choice..
Enjoy your weekend, just email me or leave a comment if you have any questions. Looking forward to enjoying the journey with you.
Happy stitching,
Rosemary
Scrappy is my favorite kind of quilt – especially with repros. And I have quite a few orphan blocks so really looking forward to this one, Rosemary!
Looking forward to this, Rosemary! Sounds like lots of fun. I love scrappy, and am eager to use my orphans.
