I hope that you all are enjoying the fall weather, very cool here in Michigan about 45°, leaves are falling and we have had quite a bit of rain. We had a great time carving pumpkins, always one of my favorite things to do.
So I have finished the quilt with the triangles and squares. It finished 105″ x 114″. It is not one of my favorite Quilts. I think for me it is all about the journey of putting a quilt together. This quilt was basically put together in a couple of weeks using all those pieces out of the Tupperware boxes. When I look at it, I just cannot believe how big the squares and the rectangles are after always working on small blocks.
It might seem weird but I like the long process of working on a quilt, I like to spend the six months or however long some times it takes to finish a quilt. I guess I like a longer journey.
I used up all the pieces except for some small four patches, I think they will make a wonderful baby quilt someday.
I now have this many Tupperware’s left.
Cannot believe I’ve emptied about half of the ironing board and I now have five large beautiful new quilts. I’m really looking forward to going to Shipshewana next month, I just love going there for the dear Jane gathering. Will be spending some time getting ready for that and also for the holidays. Not sure when I will pull another box off of the ironing board, haven’t gone through the boxes but it looks like a lot of brights and a lot of novelty fabrics. Maybe another orphan block quilt will be around the corner.
New fabrics arrived, approximately 40 yards of them, some beautiful Kaffee fabrics to add to my stash. It was a sad story, A quilter had passed away from cancer and her husband was selling her stash. The fabrics are beautiful and I hope to make something special with the fabrics.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Stay tuned for more orphan block quilts.
