It is a bright sunny day here in Michigan, temperature is about 50° or so. Definitely enjoying the sunshine.
I am having a great day today, finished my dear Jane top. It has been so long in the process. I originally started one in 1997 and I put that one together and didn’t do the triangles, only made 130 blocks.
I felt like I did not complete the journey so I started over again this time using 1930s fabrics. I don’t think I have ever worked on a project for so long, it has taken me many years but my quilt is now finished and measures 117 in.². It must weigh about 10 pounds with all those seams.
I worked on those blocks in many different places over the years, my favorite place being Shipshewana Indiana at the dear Jane retreat with so many wonderful friends.
I also have been working on the Just Takes Two Blocks, didn’t really like my color combination so I finished the top and put the blocks together that I have already made. This quilt will make a wonderful quilt for my grandson.
Houses are coming along well, it is so much fun to just pull the houses out every week and just take some time to work on something so whimsical. No stress, just pure fun.
My Lancaster diamonds are also coming along well, I’m halfway finished with the project. Looking for my sashing and cornerstone fabric, working on the diamond is also just a lot of fun.
The newest project that I have just begun collecting fabrics for is a quilt called Phebe, designed by a quilter in Australia named Di Ford. Wonderful pattern and wonderful instructions, having so much fun collecting fabrics.
I am hoping that the Civil War Anniversary Quilt Book arrives here next week for shipping. My editor e-mailed me yesterday and told me that the World War II book is now ready for editing. Really looking forward to doing that.
Hope that you are finding plenty of time to either start something new or finish an older project.
