March is here, 70° outside, definitely not the typical Michigan weather in March. Going to be in the 80s they say next week, usually we have snow and temperatures in the 30s. This probably has been our warmest winter on record, not sure what the summer months are going to bring.
I remember saying at the beginning of the year that I was going to try to focus on five projects, I am not sure how many projects I have added to that five. I have a few more that I would love to get started with but I’m really trying to focus on my five. One of the new projects that I started this year was the houses, making a different house everyday. I actually am up to date with my houses, I have enjoyed using the brightly colored fabrics. I am making my houses 6 inches instead of the 3 inches and I’m making them a little bit easier by foundation piecing them together. It is just fun on a cloudy day to pull out brightly colored fabrics and stitch away.
I know that some of you are working on the just takes two blocks, I am doing mine with shiriting’s and actually keeping up. I have enjoyed doing some of the blocks that were definitely out of a box for me. For me that’s pretty good to have two projects and actually be keeping up on them.
My Third project is my Lancaster diamonds and I have about 50 of those finished. I have really enjoyed working on these scrappy blocks and working with the fabrics. Using Pennsylvania Dutch colors, love the vibrancy of the blocks .
That leaves two projects, my dear Jane quilt which I promised myself I would finish this year, I think I have worked on about 10 to 15 blocks. Last week I put on another row and now I only have two more rows to do. The fifth project which was my stars and hexagons, it has not been touched. One of these days. Hard to keep up on everything.
A really special quilt that I made was for a friend at our church with liver cancer. I decided to make her a prayer quilt, I was so blessed by making that quilt. It was very prayerful and emotional time for me and I would do it again in a minute. I put together the top and then I had everyone from church sign in the border. I backed it with a really soft fleece with hearts, she absolutely treasures it.
I hope that all of you are enjoying the spring weather we are having right now and that you are finding time to work on your projects. I do have another idea for another book that I am processing but definitely taking some time off right now as I am waiting for the next Civil War book and the World War II book to be released.
Wishing you some time to stitch.
