I would just like to wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, I am not sure where the month of November has even gone. It is time to start decorating our home for Christmas, temperatures here in Michigan for Thanksgiving are going to be around 60°. Very unusual, sometimes we even have snow.
Shopping is one of my favorite things to do in Shipshewana, there is just something about buying fabric there for a special project. The selection is just amazing compared to what it is where we live.
My daughter Amy loves to go on all the retreats with me, this year we bought some fabric kits to make these large cuddle quilts, she made one for herself and I made a couple , One for each of my granddaughters to use here when they spend the night. The fabric was a lot harder to work with than we thought it ever was going to be.
We do go down to Shipshewana to do a lot of stitching, there also is a lot of wonderful places to eat not only great meals but favorite snacks such as donuts, pretzels and peanuts butter pie. There are two major quilt shops in Shipshewana, Lolly’s and Yoder department store. Both of them carry a large selection of fabrics.
The last couple of years I have discovered what coffee fabric is, I call them coffee fabric, it really is Kaffe Fascett fabrics. If you would’ve told me a couple of years ago that I would be buying those bright and beautiful fabrics, I would’ve thought I don’t think so. Lolly’s quilt shop has a wonderful selection of those fabrics, could not resist getting some.
It was a wonderful week which I am very thankful for. A great time to spend with so many special friends. I have been attending the dear Jane retreats in Shipshewana for the last 12 years. They just get better.
We all have so much to be thankful for, just remember to give someone a hug this week and tell them thank you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend,
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Stitching,
