I hope that this e-mail finds you stitching up a storm even in all this warm weather. I think in the 25 some years that I have been quilting, I have never been so motivated by so many beautiful quilts. I have so many projects that I want to work on and that I am working on.
I’m slowly working on my dear Jane quilt, working on my scrap blocks using the 1890s fabrics, Star quilts are coming along, finish my Barbara Brackman Civil War block every week and I am staying caught up with those, I’m in the process of wanting to start the Lancaster diamonds, The Mothers Quilt, The Billings Coverlet and a couple of others. I also just finished block 12 of the 16 blocks for my lollipop. To me it is absolutely amazing to have so many beautiful things to work on.
The latest news about the book, I finally have the exact title. When you write a book, you never know till it goes through the publisher of what the title is going to be or even how the book is going to be presented, the publishing company always has the last say. The title of the next Civil War book which is due out in May will be “The Civil War Anniversary Quilts Book: 150 Blocks to Commemorate 150 Years. To give you a little bit more information at this point, there will be three quilts in the next book. One quilt will be accompanied by Women Civil War diary entries, one quilt will be accompanied by Men Civil War diary entries and the other quilt will be Civil War letters. There also are 150 blocks in this book instead of 121 as in the past two books.
We had a great weekend, my little granddaughter turned five years old. My daughter planned a wonderful Alice in Wonderland Celebration Tea Party. You had to come dressed for the tea party in a dress and a hat. We all had a lot of fun with the hats. Not only was our entire family there but there was approximately 15 little five-year-old dressed in their Sunday best for the tea party. It was a really cute idea and everyone had such a great time, my granddaughters said it was the best birthday party ever Especially because she received a Justin Bieber sticker book.
If you have any questions, e-mail me anytime. Enjoy the lazy days of summer and find some special time just for working on a special project.
