I just want to take this time to wish a Happy Easter to you and your families. I think that the spring weather is finally arriving in Michigan after some unexpected snowfall last week.
I have been spending my time working on the manuscript for the next book, everything seems to be going well and I’m actually staying on the right timeframe and even staying ahead of schedule. All of the blocks and quilts are finished and are at the publishers. Half of the manuscript is completed. It is an interesting journey as usual in finding materials to use. I am amazed at the generosity that people are willing to share even with their time.
As soon as I am able to and the publishers give me permission, you will be the first to see the photographs of the quilts and cover information on the book.
I have been very inspired by antique quilts lately, this one in particular. It was shown at the dear Jane retreat in Shipshewana. I have spent some free time studying some other antique quilts online and in Ebay. They’re actually leading me to work on another project, sometimes I think we do not see the beauty or the spirit of the older scrappy quilts. I am in the process of designing another quilt using preproduction fabrics from the 1890s along with some shirtings. It is a first for me to work with that time era of fabrics, I love it. I look forward to showing you some more photos of my work in the future.
Hope that this e-mail finds you stitching, enjoying the wonderful Easter weekend and maybe spring weather.
