Pulled out all my orphan blocks, haven’t done that since I started quilting many years ago. This is what I found in Civil War fabrics.
114 6 inch block
24 41/2 inch blocks
64 5 Inch blocks
17 5 1/2 Inch blocks
33 3 inch blocks
7 miscellaneous size
Decided to put them altogether into this quilt, it finished 100 x 107, to me it was like getting a free quilt. looking forward to doing the same thing with my 1930s reproduction fabric blocks and my brightly colored orphan blocks.
So much fun, now when I look at the quilt I will see some of my Civil War blocks, dear Jane blocks, cheddar star blocks, Sarah Johnson blocks and many other quilts. It emptied out two of the 10 Tupperware’s I pulled on my closet of UFO’s. I would just like to say, if you have never pulled out your unfinished projects, it is a really fun thing to do. Now I have a beautiful quilt and I used up all those blocks that were just sitting there.
Will be sure to post some pictures when I start working on the other ones, later on this month. Off to work on some hexagons for my Rotherfields grey quilt.
