Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you,
I hope that you all find a little bit of time to stitch on this Valentine’s Day. We’re supposed to see the sunshine here in Michigan this afternoon, I’m going to spend the afternoon with my grandson at his school Valentine’s Day party.
I know that I have showed all of you the new Civil War fabric that Marcus designed for the next Civil War book,
The 150th Anniversary Of the Civil War
Quilt which will be released in May, there also is another really nice fabric that is part of the collection that I didn’t know about at that time. It is the Civil War ladies but they are done in a sepia shade, I can’t wait to make something with this colorway of the Civil War fabric.
I was asked by Marcus to design a quilt using the Civil War Lady fabrics, the quilt will be displayed in their booth at market and later will be displayed on their website. The Quilt will be off to the machine quilters next but I have included pictures of the Civil War lady quilt.
Since it is Valentine’s Day, if you go to my website, rosemaryyoungs.com, on the pattern download page you can download the electric quilt file to make the Civil War lady quilt. It will open in electric quilt five, six, or seven. The quilt finishes 75 x 71, blocks are 8 inches.
I know that some of you are working on quilt blankets for the orphanages in Africa, the instructions will always be posted on my website. Thank you for all of you that have e-mailed me with questions and ideas. I will try to share simple baby quilts and ideas here.
Here is a simple idea to make a quilt blanket for the orphanages in Africa.
Grab a simple charm pack of fabrics, usually a charm pack has about 40 5 inch squares. You might need to cut a couple of extra but lay them together 6 x 7 for a total of 42 squares.
Stitch all of the squares together and then add a 5 inch border.
It makes a really cute quilt and is quite simple. Then all you have to do is take your quilt top and follow the instructions on the website to make a quilt blanket.
Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day, any questions please ask.
Have a wonderful day stitching,
